1.   Convert your Xplor forks into Open Chamber because it gets rid of the harsh spike. 
 It omits the Deflection that bounces your bike off rocks instead of soaking them up.
 
2.   The red ring is a plus! With the red ring on you have stock spring preload. This is the only unit on the market that allows you to reduce your spring preload. Take the red ring off and you have 10mm of preload reduction to play with. If you reduce your preload from 8mm that KTM, Husky, & GasGas comes with and trim it down to 3mm you will feel less small chop from rocks to washboard. This is tuning and is one of the ingredients to smoother plusher suspension.   
FYI, Factory Husky off road team a couple of years ago, every rider ran Zero fork spring preload. You could hear the springs rattling sometimes. The team did that for a reason!
