UNDERSTAND SPRING LENGTH DATA BELOW - 450mm  fork spring set so you can set the proper preload and have enough spring to assure the plushness and bottoming resistance that a firmer spring will give you.  
 
Too soft of springs or too long of springs are not plusher and are certainly not safer!
 
The 950/990 bikes with 210mm of travel come from the factory with 465mm length fork springs.
This factory length spring gives you 17mm to 18mm of spring preload.

That much preload with the ability to adjust with your cap adjuster to about 27mm of preload.
This is a perfect recipe for harshness, brutal performance on small bumps and washboard.
It serves no purpose.
With a 450mm spring you can use PVC or any spacers you desire to set your preload at a reasonable 6mm to 8mm of spring preload with a correct spring rate and you will be quite surprised how much more comfortable the forks feel on road, off road in every situation.  (Details Matter)
